This was my first really awful race. It doesn't help when your body lets you down.

It was a hard race with a good mix of technical stuff, power sections, and climbing. It seemed like the type of race where you needed to not only be strong, but ride cleanly. You couldn't really make up for mistakes very easily.

Cramping in a race sucks...it's happened to me quite a bit in road races, but thankfully not in cross. In cross when I have trouble it's usually because I started too fast and just blew up completely.

It's funny how the legs can be there one day, but not the next. Hang in there, the fitness will come back around and at least the season is just about over.

Were you able to get any photos?

Yeah, that was a great course--the kind of course I need to get better at. The only MAC races I've done, Granogue and Reston, have been my favorite courses. A good blend of technique and power.

You bet it does. Cramping up like that was awful. I'm not too worried about my fitness just yet. I have plenty of excuses. My preparation last week was awful: poor sleep, poor eating, and no time on the bike.

Sorry, no photos this week. Jess was in Florida and I was a gimp.
